Pets that travel with you

RVers talk about their pets.

I'm in the market, myself, for a 4-legged travel companion, and would like to hear what pets others travel with... would you choose that same variety again?  If not, what have you learned that would cause you to choose another?

Cats are quiet, funny and curious - low maintenance. You can leave 'em alone and they will be all right as long as they have proper ventilation and such. They don't smell and chew stuff. They will sharpen their claws but can be trained to use (start out as kittens) a piece of carpet or wood to do so - I have a carpet climber for mine.

I keep their litter box in the shower --- and you don't have to get out and walk them!

Excellent companions and can be leashed trained --- earlier you start the better. Cats bathe themselves.... ! They like to get out and play in the leaves and stalk -- smell flowers and bugs -- great fun! When you walk them on a leash - they don't tend to go where you might want to go..... however, you end up in some interesting places! lol

Dogs are kinda loud-  barking - licking - tongue hanging out and panting -- slobber --- hahaha --, funny, cute and demanding. I feel guilty if I leave a dog alone for a trip into the grocery store,  Too dependent for me but I love them. You have to walk and exercise them -- use pooper scoopers - ran into a lady the other day who had the cutest doggie disposal bag shaped like a fire hydrant! attached to the leash.

Dogs are high maintenance. Some places will not allow you to leave your dog EVEN in your RV when you're gone because of the barking. hate that but I do understand.

As you know, they love water and mud and stuff and you have to bathe them a lot! But they do love to get out and run and play with you --- great fun! But, you HAVE to.... they've got to exercise.. well, unless you get a little bitty moppy dog... haha

Never traveled with a bird -- knew someone that  traveled with two ferrets -- they got too hot and well, died..... they were heartbroken. Traveling with a bird might be very interesting.  They do scatter seed and don't like drafts.

I go for cats... but you gotta love 'em... seems you either really like cats or you don't.... you are owned by a cat and you own a dog... Either way, I could not imagine being without a pet.
